What is Fine Art Street Photography

My thoughts on what fine art photography is and when this so called specialized style began.

My Two Cents (Fine Art Street Photography)

  • Technology 1 – The Internet – Since Street Photography search phrase is inundated with the top results. It’s a way for some to get noticed in search – Make a new keyword phrase. Add fine art to it, why not.
  • Technology 2 – The ease of using digital cameras. Back when I was shooting the streets with film, the process was much harder and longer to get the end result. Sometimes that result wasn’t good enough. Not a lot of street photographers back then.
  • Fine Art – Well, doesn’t that make it sound special or like its better than average?
  • Popularity – Street photography has become very popular these days
  • A Facelift – Since Street Photography had a bad rap for so many years, as snap shot photography, it needed a new refreshing facelift and it worked.

Those are the reasons I see the new name, as I don’t see any changes in this type of photography at all. Some of the reasons above that I gave aren’t meant to say that anyone that calls themselves a fine art street photographer isn’t good at what they do. I just think it’s funny that some try to justify that fine art street photography is a new style that was founded just recently.

Photographers that Inspired myself

These Three photographers are the reason I Shoot the way I do. I have some pretty out of the ordinary series of work from my film days that match more with Robert Parkeharrison, but most of my work from old to present are more in the Vivian Maier style.
